REQUIRED TOOLS FOR INSTALL: 3M
permanent metal tape - provided by Trackit.
Putty knife – Installer supplies.
Step 6: With the door closed, locate the area on the door
curtain where the magnet will be placed. **Note: The rare earth
magnet has a 360° working radius around the switch with a 3 to 4
inch gap. The rare earth magnet can be placed above, below or
parallel with the switch as long as the magnet does not hit switch
when door is opened and closed. For most roll-up door installs the
magnet is placed above the switch.**
Step 7: Raise the door enough and clean surface where the
magnet will be placed.
Use any cleaner that will not harm the paint on the door curtain.
Step 8: Close the door curtain completely, making sure
nothing is under the door curtain to keep it from closing all the
way down.
Step 9: Align the end of the rare earth magnet with the
magnet scribe mark located on the top and bottom of the switch. Peel
the backing off the foam tape and stick the magnet as close as
possible to the switch without hitting the switch.

Step 10: Raise the door-curtain enough to
cover the magnet with the 3M permanent metal tape. Stick the tape
end approx. 2 inches above the magnet leaving the metal tape on the
roll. Starting at the end of the tape above the magnet use the putty
knife to firmly press the permanent metal tape to the door-curtain
working it towards the magnet.
This releases the adhesive on the tape for a permanent bond.
When the tape touches the magnet use the putty knife and firmly
press the permanent metal tape into the top edge of the magnet and
the door-curtain. Roll the permanent metal tape over the magnet and
use the putty knife to firmly press the permanent metal tape into
the bottom edge of the magnet and the door-curtain. Continue rolling
the permanent metal tape approx.
2 inches below the magnet and firmly press it into the door-curtain.
To cut the tape press the putty knife firmly against the tape and
pull the tape. Over-all permanent metal tape length required per
door is approximately 5 inches.
**Note: The special 3M permanent metal tape roll is
2,160 inches long and should do approx. 430 roll-up doors. Permanent
tape specifications ---- 2 in. x 60 yards, pressure sensitive
adhesive, performance temperature range - 100°F to 300°F.
Close door to check final installation of magnet and switch.
Secure wire with wire ties and splice wire connections.
